Aizawl, Nov 22 (UNI) Two non-tribal workers were killed in a massive landslide that occurred at the site of the proposed Railway Station being constructed at Kawnpui in Mizoram-Assam border Kolasib district on Wednesday, Police said.
The two workers Dipak Datta (27) and Durga Prasad Passi (53), both residents of Machak, VTC Mosaka of Nagoan District in Assam were buried alive after they were trapped under the debris of the landslide.
Post mortem examination on the bodies were performed at Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kawnpui town from where they were sent to their homes.
The two workers were employees of R L Construction Private Limited., one of the construction companies, working with the Northeast Frontier Railways.
Eye-witnesses said that an excavator was employed to clear the soil for construction of the proposed Kawnpui railway station while the two deceased persons were levelling the soil manually. The sudden landslide from above killed them instantly.
