TN Guv clarifies on Mahatma’s remarks, says erroneous impression created

Chennai, Jan 27 (UNI) Amid criticism from various political parties for his alleged remarks on Mahatma Gandhi at a recent event while paying tributes to freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi on Saturday evening clarified that he held Mahatma in highest regard and an erroneous impression has been created on his statement on the Father of the Nation.

In a statement here, he said “some media reports in the last 3-4 days have sought to create an erroneous impression that I have been disrespectful to Mahatma Gandhi – the Father of the Nation.”

“Nothing could be farther from the truth”, he said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.

“I hold Mahatma Gandhi in the highest regard and his teachings have been the ideals of my life”, Mr Ravi added.
