Three security personnel martyred, 14 injured in Chhattisgarh encounter

Sukma (Chhattisgarh), Jan 30 (UNI) Three security personnel attained martyrdom and 14 sustained injuries during an encounter on Tuesday in this restive district of Left-wing extremism-affected Bastar division, police said.

A detachment comprising members of the Central Reserve Police Force’s Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, Special Task Force and District Reserve Guard were executing a patrol and search in Jonaguda-Aliguda area when they came under a hail of rebel bullets. The personnel returned fire forcing the Naxals to flee under forest cover.

The injured personnel are stated to be out of danger and are being rushed to Raipur for treatment.

In 2021, as many as 23 personnel were martyred during a gun battle in the Tekalgudem jungle.

A camp was set up earlier in the day at Tekalgudem village in Jagargunda Police Station limits on the Sukma-Bijapur border with the twin objectives of combating insurgency and ensuring basic facilities for the populace.
