Telangana govt felicitates Padma awardees from state

Hyderabad, Feb 4 (UNI) The Telangana government on Sunday felicitated the Padma Awardees from the state at a function here.

Among those felicitated were Dasari Kondappa, Gaddam Sammaiah, Anandachari, Ketawat Somlal, Kurella Vithalacharya, Megastar Chiranjeevi, and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

Dignitaries present at the event, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Ministers Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Jupalli Krishna Rao, extended their heartfelt felicitations to the Padma Awardees.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a financial incentive of Rs 25 lakhs for those honoured with Padma Shri awards and a monthly pension of Rs 25,000.

He praised Venkaiah Naidu as a significant figure for Telugu political leaders visiting New Delhi. He said honouring him is an honour for the state.

The Chief Minister hoped Naidu would become the President of India and emphasised the importance of honouring Telugu artists wherever they are.

Megastar Chiranjeevi said it was important to appreciate artists, describing such gestures as a source of encouragement.

Expressing disappointment over the suspension of the Nandi Awards in the state for several years, he endorsed renaming the Nandi Awards as Gaddar Awards by the government. He expressed delight over the upcoming introduction of the Gaddar Awards.
