Vijayawada, June 4 (UNI) The Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party is set to register an unprecedented landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections, while the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP is staring at a rout.
The Telugu Desam Party has swept seven districts. The TDP has won 90 MLA seats and is leading in 47 other constituencies. The Jana Sena party which is part of the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance, has won 17 seats and is leading in four seats. The BJP has won seven Assembly seats and is leading in one seat.
Interestingly, the Jagan Mohan Reddy-headed YSRCP which won 151 Assembly seats in the 2019 elections, has won only five seats while its candidates are leading in four constituencies.
In the Parliamentary election, the TDP has won one seat and is leading in 16 LS constituencies, the Jana Sena candidates are leading in two LS constituencies, and the BJP candidates have won two seats and are leading in two other constituencies. The ruling YSRCP is leading only three LS constituencies.
Among the prominent TDP leaders who have been elected to the Assembly are N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, Naidu’s brother-in-law N Balakrishna, TDP state president K Atchennaidu and TDP Mahila president V Anita.
Film hero-turned politician and Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan was elected from Pithapuram constituency by over 40,000 votes majority. He is entering the Assembly for the first time.
Meanwhile, except for Minister for Energy Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, all the ministers of the Jagan Reddy cabinet were defeated. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has been elected from Pulivendula while Chandrababu Naidu has been elected from Kuppam.
Meanwhile, the TDP, JSP and BJP cadres started celebrating the election victories in a big way. Many relatives and family members of Chandrababu Naidu went to his residence to congratulate him. Naidu, his son Lokesh and wife Bhavaneswari cut a cake in celebration and exchanged pleasantries.
Pawan Kalyan reached the JSP state office in the evening and will meet Naidu at his residence later at night. A large number of activists were seen bursting crackers and taking out rallies at various places.
