Lucknow, Feb 20 (UNI) After resigning from the post of national general secretary, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLC Swami Prasad Maurya on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the membership of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and primary membership of the party.
In his resignation sent to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya has stated, “I got the opportunity to work in a cordial environment under your leadership. But as a result of not taking initiative of any kind of talks after the discussion held on February 12 and the letter sent on February 13, I am also resigning from the primary membership of Samajwadi Party.’
Subsequently, he has also tendered his resignation from the membership of the Legislative Council on moral grounds.
In his letter to the Chairman of the Council, Maurya has stated, “I have been elected as a member of the Legislative Council from the Assembly constituency as a candidate of the SP. Since I have resigned from the primary membership of SP, hence on the basis of morality I am also resigning from the membership of Legislative Council. Please kindly accept.
It may be noted that Maurya resigned from the post of national general secretary on February 13 alleging discrimination, but claimed that he will continue to strengthen the party.
