Skeleton remains of five in family recovered from house in Karnataka

Chitradurga, Dec 29 (UNI) In a heart-wrenchhing incident, skeleton remains of five members of a family were recovered from a house in this district, according to police.

The cause of death is yet to be ascertained, and an autopsy will be held in this regard besides a forensic examination will be conducted to identify the deceased, police said.

The police said that the family used to live a completely secluded life and were facing critical health issues, and they were last seen around June 2019.

Though one of the neighbours saw the main wooden door broken two months ago, but did not alert the police, they said. However, the police were informed by a media personnel on Thursday.

On the visit of the police to the house, they found out that the house was intruded several times and ransacked. And also found out that two skeleton remains were found on bed and two on the floor of a room, and another skeleton was found lying down in another room, police said.

The Forensic Science Laboratory experts from Davanagere were summoned to collect evidence from the crime scene. The police have guarded and sealed the crime scene, not to allow any tampering with evidence.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said he has asked the police to find out whether the death of the family members was due to suicide or were they murdered. Already, the police have begun investigation and samples have been sent to a forensic science lab to ascertain age and other details, he said.

“Also, information is being gathered as to whom the house belongs to and who were living there,” Parameshwara added.
