Situation manageable despite rise in oil price due to Red Sea attacks: Govt

New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) Despite the rise in oil prices due to attacks by non-state actors in the Red Sea, the ‘situation is manageable’, the government said on Monday.

Replying to a question raised by All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) member Jawhar Sircar in the Rajya Sabha regarding disruption in the global oil market due to attacks in the Red Sea by Houthis, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said due to development in the Red Sea, there is a ‘certain degree of anxiety’ as these were non-state actors affecting the supply lines.

The Minister said, “We are reasonably confident that, given the goodwill around the globe, the factors that are giving rise to the anxiety will be contained, and there won’t be an all-out escalation.”

He further added that the current geopolitical state, the market, and the international community have so far adjusted.
