Bhopal: These days, severe cold is wreaking havoc in Madhya Pradesh and the temperature is also close to touching 5 degrees Celsius. Icy winds are blowing across the state. A huge drop in temperature is being seen in the Gwalior Chambal area. Gwalior is recording lower temperatures than Pachmarhi, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh.
The cold wave, the result of winds coming from Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand which have witnessed snowfall, has gripped several places in the state.
Pachmarhi, Datia, Chhatarpur coldest
According to the information, Pachmarhi, Datia, Chhatarpur have been recorded as the coldest areas. Apart from this, a drop in minimum temperature was also recorded in Gwalior Chambal where L the temperature fell to 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Mercury plummets rapidly in Bhopal
The effect of the cold wave was also seen in Seoni. Along with Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Malajkhand, the temperature is also falling rapidly in the capital Bhopal. According to the Meteorological Department, a significant change may be seen in the weather within the next 24 hours. Due to which light rainfall may occur in many areas.
Weather Dept’s prediction
According to Madhya Pradesh Meteorological Department, there will be a change in the weather from next week. Along with cloud cover, light rain and drizzle may also occur at many places in the state on 23 and 24 December. While the day temperature will drop, the night temperature is expected to rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, but as soon as the effects of the western disturbance ends, a period of severe cold will begin in the state.
Precautions against frostbite and the cold wave
Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, the Medical and Health Officer in Bhopal, has issued an appeal to the general public, urging them to take necessary precautions against frostbite and the cold wave.
Dr. Tiwari explained that during the winter season, the cold wave occurs when the environmental temperature drops significantly, posing potential risks to human health such as cold, fever, pneumonia, skin diseases, lung infections, hypothermia, asthma, and allergies. To safeguard against the cold wave, he emphasized the importance of wearing warm clothing with multiple layers, including quilts, blankets, sweaters, waterproof shoes, mufflers, and covers.
