Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday added another gain of 253 pts to close strong at 73917.03 on firm global cues.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 62.25 pts at 22,466.10.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,502.15 and 22,345.65 pts respectively.
Though the equity market remained volatile during the day, it was finished positive only, as the Sensex opened at 73711.31, rising 48 pts. It was edged up 407 pts at 74070.84, days high before closing at 73917.03, advancing 253.31 pts from its last close.
Meanwhile, it was slipped 204 pts at 73459.80, days low.
The stocks that supported the market were Consumer Durable by 2.41 pc, Auto by 1.80 pc, Realty by 1.68 pc and Industrials by 1.26 pc.
In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
The Mid Cap gained 1.18 pc and small Cap by 1.39 pc.
The gainers were M& M by 5.97 pc to Rs 2514.45, JSW Steel by 2.36 pc to Rs 907.30, Ultracemco by 1.85 pc to Rs 9887, Kotak bank by 1.50 pc to Rs 1697 and ITC by 1.24 pc to Rs 436.60.
The losers were TCS by 1.70 pc to Rs 3833.95, HCL Technology by 1.22 pc to Rs 1331.50, Hind Unilever by 1 pc to Rs 2319.45 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.85 pc to Rs 2446.30.
Asian Market was also seen strong as Strait Times was up by 0.26 pc, Hang Seng by 0.91 pc and Jakarta Composite by 0.96 pc.
