Sensex at new peak at 70,514.20 pts

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday hit new record high at 70,514.20, surging 929.60 pts, tracking global market and rally in IT, Bank and Realty stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 256.35 pts at 21,182.70.

The Sensex opened touching 70K level at 70,146.09, rising 562 pts. During the day, it was zoomed 1118 pts at 70,602.89, days high, before closing at 70,514.20, up 929.60 pts from its previous close.

The NSE posted days high and low at 21,210.90 and 21,074.45 pts respectively.

In scrips, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technology boosted the market, however, Powergrid, Nestle India Ltd, Titan and JSW Steel kept the market low.

The gainers were Tech Mahindra rose by 3.91 pc to Rs 1264,; Infosys by 3.61 pc to Rs 1501.25, Wipro by 3.52 pc to Rs 434.35, HCL Technology by 3.32 pc to Rs 1414.30 and IndusInd Bank by 2.97 pc to Rs 1551.65.

The losers were Powergrid by 2.01 pc to Rs 232.10, Nestle India Ltd by 1.04 pc to Rs 24,786, Titan by 0.32 pc to Rs 3591.05 and JSW Steel by 0.29 pc to Rs 848.45.

The Mid Cap gained 1.06 pc and Small Cap by 0.62 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.

Asian Market ended positive as Strait Times went up by 0.60 pc, Hang Seng by 1.06 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 1.04 pc while Nikke fell 0.73 pc.
