Salman Khan house firing case: Accused arrested from Haryana remanded into PC

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Another member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence last month, was on Tuesday remanded into police custody till May 22 by a special MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) court here.

Accused Harpal Singh (34), a resident of Fatehabad in Haryana, was apprehended by the Mumbai police’s Crime Branch from his hometown on Monday evening, an official said.

After being brought to Mumbai, Singh was this afternoon produced before a special court, which has granted a short remand up to May 22.

While moving the remand application before special Judge B D Shelke, the prosecutor told the court that the probe was at an initial stage and a thorough investigation was needed to ascertain the role of accused in the case.

Singh’s name came to light during interrogation of another accused Mohammed Rafique Chowdhary, who was arrested earlier in the case, the prosecutor said.

Singh is the sixth accused to be arrested in connection with the firing incident.

Notably, two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire outside Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s western suburb of Bandra on April 14 and fled from the spot.
