New Delhi, April 24 (UNI) Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant led from the front with a scintillating unbeaten knock of 88 runs off just 43 balls, guiding his team to a commanding total of 224/4 against Gujarat Titans in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Wednesday.
Pant’s innings was a masterclass in T20 batting, blending aggression with calculated shot-making. His innings included five fours and eight towering sixes, anchoring Delhi Capitals’ innings and setting the stage for a competitive total.
Supporting Pant’s brilliance was all-rounder Axar Patel, who contributed a brisk 66 off 43 deliveries. Axar’s innings was studded with five boundaries and four sixes, as he formed a crucial partnership with Pant to propel Delhi’s innings.
Tristan Stubbs provided the finishing touches with a quickfire, unbeaten 26 off just seven balls, ensuring Delhi Capitals reached a formidable total.
Earlier in the match, after winning the toss, Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill chose to bowl first. Despite early dismissals of Jake Fraser-McGurk (23 off 14) by Sandeep Warrier and subsequent wickets of Prithvi Shaw (11) and Shai Hope (5), Delhi Capitals managed to recover through Pant and Axar’s partnership.
With a challenging total of 225 runs set, Delhi Capitals have put the pressure on Gujarat Titans’ batting lineup to deliver in their chase.
