Rijiju gets food processing charge after Pashupati resigns from Cabinet

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been given an additional charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries on Wednesday after Union Minister and the president of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned as the Cabinet Minister.

President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of RLJP chief on Tuesday from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect, the President’s office said in a statement.

“The President has directed that Kiren Rijiju, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in addition to his existing portfolio,” it said.

Rijiju currently holds charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

The resignation of Pashupati came following the NDA’s seat-sharing agreement in Bihar for the Lok Sabha elections, in which his party was not given any seats to contest the poll. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, here, RLJP President announced his resignation, alleging that injustice had been done to his party.
