Rahul’s padayatra changed nation’s mood: Patole

Mumbai, June 6 (UNI) It was the 10,000 km of foot march by Rahul Gandhi in 2022-23 that ultimately changed the mood of the nation as he crisscrossed south to north and east to west from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and later Manipur to Mumbai, said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nana Patole on Thursday.

Congress’ manifesto was made on the basis of the issues raised by the people, whom the former Congress president met during these padayatras, Patole said.

Patole said people showed great faith in Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra and that ultimate reversed the verdict in Congress and its allies’ favour.

The Congress contested 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state and achieved resounding success in 13. In, 2019, Congress had won only a single seat.

Party workers had gathered at their state headquarters, Tilak Bhavan, to greet Patole and celebrate the occasion.

Speaking to reporters after this, Patole said that the people were fed up with the dictatorial regime of the BJP.

“The people were very angry that they ran a tyrannical government for 10 years trampling on democracy and the Constitution. That is why the people returned with their support to the Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

“The hard work and dedication of Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi workers also contributed a lot to this victory,” he added.

Patole also expressed faith that the Maha Vikas Aghadi will perform better than the Lok Sabha in the assembly elections slated later this year and defeat the BJP-led grand coalition government, he added.
