Patna, Jan 29 (UNI) Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday maintained stoic silence on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar walking away from Grand Alliance and demanded caste census at national level to ensure justice to those oppressed and deprived.
Gandhi, while addressing a public meeting during his “Bharat Joro Nyaya Yatra” on arrival in Kishanganj district of Bihar, said that caste census was necessary at national level and it should be conducted to ensure justice to those oppressed and deprived. His party had always been committed to ensure justice to oppressed and deprived, he added.
The Congress leader during his address maintained silence on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar walking away from Grand Alliance and joining hands with BJP to form NDA government in Bihar.
Kumar had walked out from Grand Alliance on Sunday blaming irresponsible behaviour of Congress and RJD for his decision to do so.
The Wayanad Lok Sabha MP alleged that BJP and RSS were spreading hatred in the country which caused social tension. His party strongly believed in love, brotherhood and affection among various sections of the society, he said.
“Hatred can not be negated with hate, so I am spreading the message of love to end it”, the former Congress president said.
Gandhi said that he had added the word “Nyay” to his Bharat Jodo Yatra” to rename it as Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Nyay (justice) was needed for common man of the country and he would continue to strive for the same, he stressed.
The Congress leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on violence in Manipur. Even after so much violence and loss of large number of precious life in Manipur, the PM did not utter even one word of solace, he lamented.
