Priyanka announces ‘Padho Padhao’ scheme

Says 22000 announcements made in 18 years, time has come to change govt

Mandla: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today said that if the party forms the government in Madhya Pradesh, ‘Padho Padhao’ scheme will be implemented, under which school students will be given Rs 500 to Rs 1500 per month. Education of children from class 1st to 12th will be free under the scheme.

In view of the state assembly elections, Mrs. Vadra addressed an election meeting in the tribal dominated Mandla of Mahakaushal region. On this occasion, Congress General Secretary and state in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath and other senior leaders were also present. Priyanka said time has come to change govt, trust us, don’t be disheartened. She said state has only seen scam in BJP rule and 22000 announcements were made in 18 years.

While addressing the meeting organized at the local Ramnagar Ground, Mrs. Vadra said that if the Congress government is formed after the assembly elections, the Padho Padhao scheme will be implemented. Under this, five hundred rupees per month will be provided to the children of class one to eighth, one thousand rupees to the children of ninth and tenth and fifteen hundred rupees per month will be provided to the children of eleventh and twelfth.

While addressing the people of this tribal dominated region, the Congress General Secretary remembered her grandmother and former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. She said that the people of this region knew Mrs. Gandhi as ‘Indira Mata’. This is because they all trusted Mrs. Gandhi and as per their trust, she also worked for the people of this region.

Describing the tribals as the most prudent, she said that in view of the upcoming assembly elections, they should vote keeping her (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) words in mind on the day of voting. She said that whatever promises she and the Congress party are making will be fulfilled if the government is formed.

Increased bonus will be given

Mrs. Vadra said that if Congress government is formed in the state, like Chhattisgarh state, increased bonus will be given on paddy and tendu leaves in Madhya Pradesh also. He also mentioned other announcements of Congress and said that the party is making announcements only after thinking.

1.5 lakh girls, women have gone missing

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said – 1.5 lakh women and girls have gone missing in Madhya Pradesh, atrocities are highest here. She started her address with the words Jai Johar Jai Seva Jai Rani Durgavati Har Har Narmade.

Priyanka Gandhi told tribals that you are the owner of water, forest and land. You should get this right. Our tribal brothers and sisters must get the ownership. How will our culture develop? How will our culture progress? How will our culture be protected? You have to think about this. I ask for your awareness, not your vote. The day you people become aware, you will be able to decide right from wrong.

Among major announcments of Priyanka were: 100 units of electricity will be free; half charges on 200 electricity units; cooking cylinder will be available for Rs 500; old pension scheme will be applicable; caste census will be conducted in Madhya Pradesh; the Sixth Schedule will be applicable where there is more than 50% tribal population and the vacant backlog posts of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be filled immediately.

The schedule of assembly elections has been released for all 230 seats in the state and voting will be held simultaneously on all the seats on November 17. The results will be declared on December 3. The number of seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes in the state is 47. All the main parties have their eyes on these seats also. The main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste as its candidate from Niwas Assembly seat in Mandla district.
