Chennai, Jan 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the southern tip of Dhanushkodi and offered prayers at the Kothandaraswamy temple before leaving for New Delhi after winding up his 3-day Ramayana-connect visits to Tamil Nadu ahead of consecration of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
As part of his last leg of his visit, Mr Modi offered special prayers at the temple and performed special poojas.
Later, he visited Arichal Munai, which is said to be the place from where the Ram Setu was built.
Arichal Munai is the last point on Indian mainland.
He spent some time at the sea shore, meditated for some time and showered flower petals into the sea and offered prayers.
He also paid floral tributes at the Ashoka Pillar erected with National emblem in Arichal Munai.
After spending about an hour at Dhanushkodi and Arichal Munai, Mr Modi left for Rameswaram from where he reached Madurai by a helicopter and left for New Delhi.
During his 3-day visit,Mr Modi inaugurated the Khelo India Youth games here on Friday evening,visited Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam in Trichy and Lord Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram on Saturday, before winding up his tour with a visit to Dhanushkodi and Arichal Munai today.
