Bhubaneswar, Feb 9 (UNI) Odisha Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallick on Friday adjourned the house sine die for an indefinite period.
The budget session of Odisha Assembly which commenced on February 5 was scheduled to continue till February 13 with seven working days.
However, the Assembly was adjourned sine die after five working days in which the Vote on Account for four months was presented by Finance Minister B K Arukh on Thursday.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das addressed the inaugural session on February 5 and only one adjournment motion was taken up during the five-day session.
This was the last session of the 16th Legislative Assembly as Odisha will go to the Assembly poll in 2024 along with the Lok Sabha election.
After the house was adjourned sine die, a group photo session was organized by the Assembly Secretariat with all the members of the house.
Some senior members were emotional on the last day of the session as they felt that it was the last day for them in the house.
Congress Legislature party Leader Narasingha Mishra announced that he will not contest the elections while his party colleague Suresh Chandra Routray also announced that he would not contest the 2024 Assembly election and instead his two sons would contest the elections.
