Number of injured in Russia gas station blast rises to 66

Makhachkala, Aug 15 (UNI) The number of those injured in an explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, has risen to 66, Russian First Deputy Health Minister Viktor Fisenko said.

“A total of 66 injured people, 10 of them in serious condition, are in Makhachkala’s medical institutions. Doctors are now fighting for every life,” Fisenko said.

The blast, which killed 12 people, occurred on Monday evening. A total of 260 people were involved in the firefighting effort.

Russia’s Emergencies Ministry told Sputnik that the fire had been contained to an area of 600 square meters (6,460 sq feet).
