Nine soldiers die in a road accident in Ladakh

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Nine soldiers died in an accident on Saturday after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Ladakh, defence officials said.

The accident took place nearly 7 km away from Kyari town in Leh district, when a small convoy of three Army vehicles were moving in the area..

“There were 10 Army personnel inside the vehicle when it fell into a deep gorge,” defence officials said.

Soon after the accident, a rescue operation was launched.

Officials said nine soldiers died in the accident.

The identity of the slain soldiers could not be established immediately.
