MP: 8 burnt alive, 14 hurt after bus catches fire

Guna (MP), (UNI) Eight passengers were burnt alive and 14 injured when a bus – carrying approximately 30 people – overturned and burst into flames following a head-on collision with a dumper on the Guna-Aron road late Wednesday near Semri village in this district’s Bajrangarh Police Station limits.

Meanwhile in Bhopal, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the loss of life, ordered an inquiry and announced ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each besides Rs 50,000 to every grievously-hurt individual.

SP Vijay Kumar Khatri confirmed the toll. The deceased are hitherto unidentified. Some passengers scrambled out and saved themselves. The bus was reduced to a burnt-out shell. Locals participated in the rescue mission and rushed victims to the district infirmary.
