Bhopal: 23-year-old Amreen was given triple talaq by her husband Mohammad Riaz in Rani Palace Colony. Chandan Nagar Police has registered an FIR against the husband along with the in-laws for assault, dowry harassment and Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Act (Triple Talaq).
According to the police, initially mother-in-law Saeeda Parveen and father-in-law Ismail started harassing her after having a daughter. He had demanded Rs 5 lakh. Amreen got married in the year 2019 itself. When she was harassed regarding dowry, the father arranged for Rs 2 lakh. Mother-in-law used to say that she needed the entire Rs 5 lakh.
The woman told that her husband Mohammad Riyaz has relations with other women. He chats with them the whole night. On May 9, I caught him talking through the app. He beat him and threatened to throw him out of the house. On May 11, the husband left his maternal home (Mhow). When she came to her in-laws’ house on 20th May, Riyaz stopped her. Riyaz said divorce thrice in front of everyone and threw her out of the house. At that time also mother-in-law slapped me. On Monday, Amreen reached the police station with her parents and lodged an FIR against the three.
