Lot of difference between Gandhi Ji’s Congress and Nehru’s Congress: BJP

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Slamming the Congress for boycotting Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration ceremony, BJP on Thursday said there was a lot of difference between the Congress of Mahatma Gandhi and that of Jawaharlal Nehru.

“Congress is not attending the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony. This shows Congress is against Hindu religion and Hindutva… There is a lot of difference between Gandhi Ji’s Congress and Nehru’s Congress” BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told a press conference at the party headquarters here.

Trivedi’s remarks came a day after the Congress declined the invitation to the January 22 inauguration ceremony saying it was a “political project” of the BJP and its ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Trivedi said the Congress always derived satisfaction by “disrupting” every good occasion in the country.

“Whenever Bharat’s history takes a turn, Congress jumps to boycott it”.

“From the historic paradigm shift in the tax structure of the country, in the form of GST, to celebrating the Kargil Vijay Diwas during 2004-09, Congress did nothing except boycott these,” he said.

Delving into the past, he pointed out that Nehru did not attend the consecration of the Somnath Temple.

“When the consecration of the Somnath temple was taking place, Jawaharlal Nehru ji wrote to the then head of Saurashtra on April 24, 1951 that ‘It is not possible for me to come from Delhi for this ceremony in these difficult times”.

The BJP spokesperson claimed that the public is increasingly distancing itself from the Congress due to such an approach.

Continuing his verbal assault on the Congress, he referred to its approach to the Kargil Vijay Diwas and Pokhran nuclear test. He said the Congress had also boycotted the address of former President Ramnath Covid and the incumbent Draupadi Murmu.

“What’s more, Congress had also boycotted the Bharat Ratna ceremony of former President Pranab Mukherjee, who was a Congress man,” he added.
