LS polls: Delhi Police appoints nodal officer to monitor social media content

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Delhi Police has appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, B Shanker Jaiswal, as the nodal officer to monitor objectional content spreading through social media platforms during the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Jaiswal will oversee the social media monitoring and cybercrime departments, the Delhi Police said in a statement.

“It is important to note that such messages have the potential to disrupt the electoral process by contravening election laws, the model code of conduct, and directives issued by the Election Commission,” it said.

The police further urged people to promptly report to the designated nodal officer if they encounter any objectionable messages.

Individuals can forward the objectionable message(s) to the Nodal Officer at 8130099025 or via email at nodalsmmc.election24@delhipolice.gov.in, providing the relevant details, such as phone number, URL, etc., from which the content was received or spotted, the police said.
