Khattar takes charge as Minister of Power, Housing & Urban Affairs

New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) BJP leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took charge as Union Power Minister in addition to his other portfolio of Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs at the Shram Shakti Bhawan Tuesday.

The minister is facing a herculean task amid rising temperature and demand for electricity in many parts of the country. Secretary, Ministry of Power, Pankaj Agarwal, along with the senior officials of ministry welcomed the new Minister.

The former Minister of Power, Raj Kumar Singh, extended a warm welcome to his successor. The Minister of State in the Ministry of Power, Shripad Yesso Naik was also present on the occasion.

Raj Kumar Singh has been dropped after he lost election from Bihar.

The Union Minister was briefed by senior officials of the Ministry of Power and after assuming charge, he also took a review meeting regarding the power supply position in the country amid an unprecedented heatwave across several parts of the country.
