Khadi Mahotsav held at Bhopal Haat

An exhibition of handicraft products — Khadi Mahotsava — was held at the capital’s outdoor exhibition venue Bhopal Haat.

Several people came to sell their products and to directly interact with the customers; people came from different cities and states to attend this event. The purpose of the event was to encourage use of handicraft products, in particular Khadi items.

The Haat started from 12am in the morning and closed at 9pm. It proved to be a huge success as sellers were directly interacting with the customers; the prices of the products were fair. The stall area was very clean and hygiene was maintained well.

When this reporter approached them, the sellers discussed several issues that were affecting their business and profit, such as low sales and leftover goods. Some of the vendors spoke about the issues that they face while carrying the goods from one state to another.

Overall, the Khadi Mahotsava event was a huge success as it provided a platform for vendors to directly connect with the customers and tell them about their handmade items.

For some vendors, it was profitable and for others it was break-even. The vendors who participated in the event were applauded for their willingness, and the event marked a significant step towards promoting Khadi in the market.
