Cuttack, Feb 7 (UNI) Odisha Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath of office to Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court at a function on Wednesday held on the premises of old High Court premises.
Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh was appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court after Justice Subhasis Talapatra retired as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on October 3, 2023.
Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court after the retirement of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra.
Judges and former judges of Orissa High Court and high dignitaries attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Chakradhari Sharan Singh was enrolled as an advocate on October 30, 1999, after having obtained an LL.B. degree from the University of Delhi (Campus Law Centre).
He was appointed as Additional Standing Counsel, Central Government, in 1998 and continued as such up to October 2001, when he was appointed as Counsel for Patna High Court on its administrative side during the initial years of his practice.
Singh practiced mainly in service, constitutional, and criminal matters and also dealt with cases under Central Excise, Customs, and Labour Laws.
He was appointed as panel counsel by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for conducting cases on behalf of the Accountant General Office in Patna High Court.
Singh had received training as a mediator in 2006 and was appointed mediator for the Patna High Court Mediation Centre.
He was designated Senior Advocate with effect from September 18, 2010, and was appointed Additional Advocate General of the Bihar Government in December 2010 and continued as such till his elevation as an Additional Judge, Patna High Court, with effect from April 5, 2012.
Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh assumed the charge as Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on February 6, 2023.
