Indore Metro to be extended up to Pithampur, Ujjain

  • Indore has come a long way from tempo to metro, says CM 

Indore: A new golden chapter has been added to the history of public transport service of Madhya Pradesh from Indore. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off the state’s first metro train trial train in Indore on Saturday. Metro Rail Corporation MD Manish Singh welcomed the CM by presenting him a model of the metro train.

The Chief Minister announced that metro train will be extended upto Pithampur and Ujjain. It is State’s resolve that in the Simhastha of 2028, devotees and common citizens will go to Indore by metro to have darshan of Mahakal Baba. Indore and surrounding areas will be designated as metropolitan authority.

Chouhan had a ride in the metro train. He took stock of the arrangements and facilities. Many public representatives and senior officials and other distinguished citizens of the city were also present.

7 lakh passengers will be able to travel daily

With the completion of the world class Indore Metro Train Project in Indore at a cost of Rs 7500 crore, citizens will be provided with the facility of fast, safe, modern and comfortable travel. As many as 7 lakh passengers will be able to commute daily. It will have three coaches. The speed of the metro train will be 90 kilometers per hour.

Addressing the program, Chouhan said that a new era is beginning in Indore. Indore is the city of my dreams, Indore is the cleanest city, Indore is smart city. It is IT city. Indore has come a long way from tempo to metro.

The Chief Minister congratulated Metro Train Corporation’s MD Manish Singh and his team. He said that the Metro team has worked on a war footing. He said that people will be able to commute in the metro in a clean and hygienic environment and will be able to reach the destination in a very short time.

Metro coaches will be air conditioned

Metro coaches will be air conditioned. There will be suitable space for disabled people also.
Each coach of the metro train will have space for 50 people to sit and 300 people to stand. This metro service will be available in more than 31 km area. It will have 28 stations. Out of which 7 will be underground and 21 will be elevated stations.

Automatic ticketing

There will be a system of automatic ticketing on National Common Mobility Card. The doors will also be automatic. There will be a passenger information display system. There will be grab handles, lift, escalator, customer care centre, announcements in Hindi and English, wheelchairs for disabled, other public facilities etc.

Solar energy arrangements

There will also be a provision for emergency contact and emergency door in the train. To reduce electricity consumption, solar energy arrangements are being made at stations and depots. This train will be operated by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

CM Shivraj rode metro

CM Shivraj rode the metro today after the flag off. Sitting in the metro train, he took stock of the arrangements and facilities. The metro train started from Gandhi Nagar station and reached the next station on the Super Corridor where the CM received greetings from the citizens.
