India will shine when Manipur, northeast develop: Amit Shah

Imphal, April 15 (UNI) Manipur and the entire northeast are so important that when they shine the whole nation will move forward, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said addressing a BJP public meeting at Hapta Kangjeibung on Monday.

Shah said that Modi is a friend of the northeast and Manipur. He appealed to the people to elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the third and to save Manipur. He alleged that the Congress party is involved in dividing the country, and it has started South and North India politics.

He reminded the people of the incident on April 14, 1944, when the Indian flag was unfurled for the first time at Moirang by INA.

The BJP government has fulfilled its promise to build Ram Mandir and fight the separatist movement to bring peace to the country he added.

During the last 10 years 25 cr people were uplifted from the poverty line 80 crore people were given free food, four crore people were given houses, 14 crore people were given tap water he added.

The government signed ten agreements with various militant outfits and 9000 militants surrendered he added. The Prime Minister visited the northeast 70 times and Ministers visited the region 700 times, he said. Small states are the soul of the country he said. Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had said bye-bye to Assam and Congress President Kharge has little respect for small states, he added.

Manipur was in turmoil, with fake encounters the order of the day during the Ibobi Singh government of 15 years he alleged. Manipur has witnessed 750 deaths in the Kuki Naga clash, 100 people in the Meitei Pangal clash, and 350 in the Kuki Paite clashes, he added.

Illegal immigrants are trying to change the demography of the state and to stop it the Indo-Myanmar boundary will be protected by fencing it he added. Free movement regime has been removed to stop movements of drug and illegal immigrants he further said.

He assured to give a deserving responsibility to Dr Th Basanta the BJP candidate in Inner Manipur who is the son of former Union Minister Th Chaoba.

BJP is trying to root out corruption and make a strong vibrant country, he said. Amit Shah who arrived at Imphal International Airport moved straight to the meeting place accompanied by Chief Minister N Biren Singh and party leaders. Amit Shah after addressing the meeting went to the BJP office to inaugurate an office and interacted with the party workers.

Special security arrangements were made for the visit of the Home Minister.

Manipur will go to polls on April 19 and April 26.
