Hyderabad Mayor joins Congress party

Hyderabad, Mar 30 (UNI) In a significant development ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BRS party (BRS) suffered a major setback as Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi officially joined the Congress party on Saturday.

Her induction into the party took place in the presence of Telangana Congress In-Charge Deepa Dasmushi and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ceremoniously draped a scarf around Vijayalakshmi, extending a warm welcome to her into the Congress fold. Alongside Vijayalakshmi, her brother Venkat also joined the party.

It is noteworthy that Venkat had recently announced his departure from the BRS party, following which he promptly joined the Congress along with his sister.

BRS General Secretary K Keshava Rao, who is also Vijayalakshmi’s father, BRS station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, and his daughter Kavya, who recently withdrew the BRS MP candidate of Warangal, are expected to join the Congress party within the next two to three days, according to party sources.
