Govt suspends two SAIL and one NMDC directors with immediate effect

New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) The central government has suspended two directors of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and also one director of iron ore producer NMDC with immediate effect.

Official sources in SAIL said that the two directors and several other senior officials have been suspended following directions from Lok Pal which is investigating cases of alleged misconduct.

In a regulatory filing to the BSE on Saturday, SAIL said that the Ministry of Steel in a letter on January 19, 2024 has placed V.S. Chakravarthy, Director (Commercial) and A.K. Tulsiani, Director (Finance) on suspension.

The public sector steel major also informed the stock exchange that the company has placed some below Board level officials under suspension complying with the directions of Steel Ministry.

“It is further informed, that complying with the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, letter dated 19th January, 2024 the company has placed some Below Board Level Officials of the company, which include Shri S.K. Sharma, ED (F&A), CMC; Shri Vinod Gupta, ED (Commercial); Shri Atul Mathur, ED (Sales & ITD) and Shri R.M. Suresh, ED (Marketing Services), on suspension with immediate effect,” SAIL said in its regulatory filing.

The Ministry of Steel has also suspended V. Suresh, Director (Commercial) at public sector iron ore producer NMDC Ltd with immediate effect, as per regulatory filing with the BSE.
