Former AAP MP from Patiala Dharamvir Gandhi joins Cong

New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Former AAP MP from Patiala Dharamvir Gandhi on Monday joined the Indian National Congress in presence of senior party leaders at the party headquarters here.

He joined the party in presence of Chairperson of the Media and Publicity section in the Communications Department Pawan Khera, Punjab Congress in charge Devender Yadav, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and the Congress Legislative Party leader in Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa.

After joining the party, Gandhi said, “The upcoming Lok Sabha election is very important and they are not ordinary but extraordinary. This election will decide the direction of the country. At such times, it is very important to stand with the right and that is the reason I have joined the Congress”.

He said that he felt privileged, as Congress was the only party that was fighting against communal polarisation and threat to the democracy and Constitution in the country.

He also praised Rahul Gandhi for taking out the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra at a time when the country needed it the most. Adding that this was another reason why he joined the Congress.

Moreover, Gandhi also merged his Nawan Punjab Party into the Congress.

Welcoming Gandhi into the party fold, Devender Yadav said, he will prove to be a great asset for the party as he has a lot of social standing.

He said Gandhi was attracted by the Congress ideals of secularism and its commitment to protect the constitution and democracy.
