Female voters higher than male voters first time in poll-bound Telangana assembly elections

Hyderabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Female voters crossed male voters for the first time in the poll-bound Telangana assembly elections to be held on November 30,2023 and also registered higher number of 18-19 years voters ever at over 9.99 lakh.

After completion of the electoral roll process, electoral roll has been finalized in all 119 assembly constituencies in the state at 3,26,18,205 out of which 1,62,98,418 are males, 1,63,01,705 are females and 2,676 belong to third gender, according to Chief Electoral officer (CEO) Vikas Raj.

There is a net increase of 8.75 per cent in the number of electors since January 2023, he said there is a remarkable achievement in the enrolment of record number of 18–19-year young voters from January 6 onwards.

As a result, the electoral rolls have 9,99,667 new voters in the 18-19 age cohort. This constitutes 3.06 percent of the electoral roll, he said.

In a fitting tribute to the spirit of inclusiveness behind the electoral process, the Gender Ratio of the electoral roll has improved from 992 on 5th January to 1000.2, said Vikas Raj.

No further applications can be processed for assembly elections 2023, he said the distribution of Voter Information Slip (VIS) will commence shortly.

He said there are 15,406 service electors and 2,944 overseas electors.

In the process of finalization of electoral rolls for assembly elections, form 6 (new voter enrolment) and form 8 (shifting of electors) applications received up to 31st October 2023 and form 7 (deletion) and form 8 (correction of details) applications received up to 8th October 2023 have been disposed.

Consequently 35.73 lakh additions, 9.48 lakh deletions, and 16.29 lakh shifting & modification were carried out in the electoral roll in the year 2023, he said.

The gender ratio in the 18 to 19 age group has improved from 707 to 753. There are 4,40,371 voters who are above 80 years of age and 5,06,921 PwD voters. The number of third gender persons has increased to 2,676. 8, he aid

All citizens are requested to check the details of their polling station by logging into electoralsearch.eci.gov.in or through Voter Helpline App (VHA).

A total of 4798 candidates have filed 5716 nominations on the last day of nominations on Friday.

Of the total nominations, the highest number of 154 nominations were received from Gajwel where BRS Chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is contesting while the lowest number of 19 nominations received from Narayanpet assembly segment.

The process of collection of Postal Ballot applications (Form 12Ds) from absentee voters — Senior Citizens, PwD and Essential services voters, was completed on Wednesday last .

So far 31551 Form 12Ds and the highest number of applications of 757 received from Siddipet Assembly Constituency and least of only 5 from Makthal Assembly Constituency.

In a separate note, the CEO said that the state level certification committee which met on Saturday, analysed the misuse of approved political advertisements by political parties, particularly in social media and took the decision to withdraw permission granted to 15 advertisements belonging to all political parties.

The committee requested party representatives present in the meeting to restrain from repeating the same again.
