Entrepreneur registration for Assam’s ambitious self-employment scheme begins this weekend

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) The registration for Assam government’s ambitious self-employment scheme Mukhya Mantri Swa-Niyojan Mission, that aims to create two lakh youth entrepreneurs in the state, will begin tentatively on September 23-24, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced here on Wednesday.

“Mukhya Mantri Swa-Niyojan Mission scheme is in its final stage. Today, the work of the scheme has been finalised after discussions,” Sarma told reporters after chairing a 40-minute video conference from Assam House with senior officials.

“The registration of entrepreneurs for the scheme will start tentatively from September 23-24,” he said.

Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Political, Ravi Kota, and Assam’s Resident Commissioner in Delhi MS Mani Annan attended the video conference.

The Mukhya Mantri Sva-Niyojan Scheme 2023, launched earlier this year, will provide a platform for the youths from below poverty level (BPL) families and low-income households who can become micro-entrepreneurs, official sources said.

The scheme will not only provide a livelihood to these families but also transform the job seekers into job creators in various sectors including trading, manufacture, service, food processing, handloom, handicrafts and agriculture.

Over two years, the scheme intends to cover over 2 lakh youths of Assam.

The Chief Minister has been away from the state for three days campaigning for BJP candidates in the Assembly-poll bound states.
