Delhi Police holds meeting to discuss security plans for Lok Sabha polls

New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) The Security Unit of Delhi Police on Thursday organised a conference to discuss the strategies for strengthening the security arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.

During the meeting, the sessions including presentations and deliberations were conducted by officers from Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) on different aspects of security arrangements, the Delhi Police said in a statement.

The officials also shared their valuable insights, effective strategies and best practices adopted to mitigate risks and enhance preparedness for security cover, it said.

The Conference was presided over by Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police and several senior officers from Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) participated in the Conference.

In his inaugural address at the conference, Special Commissioner of Police, Protective Security Division Dependra Pathak highlighted challenges before the Police in ensuring full-proof VIP security during election times and strategies for professionally handling the VIP programmes during election campaigns.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Sanjay Arora emphasised proper coordination between Delhi Police and CAPFs in providing a comprehensive security cover to protected persons during the election process.

He reiterated that security agencies must plan and act professionally and ingeniously to tackle emerging security challenges. He further highlighted the need for security agencies to facilitate public interface by political figures during roadshows and mass contact programs involving high-risk dignitaries without compromising safety and security.
