Delhi Assembly Budget session to be held from Feb 15-20

New Delhi, (UNI) Delhi Legislative Assembly budget session is slated to take place from February 15 to 20, said an official statement issued on Friday.

The budget will be presented by Delhi Finance Minister Atishi Marlena, for the first time.

This year’s budget will focus on key areas like education, health, electricity, water, employment, and infrastructure. Funding may be allocated in the budget to initiate Entrepreneurship Programs in colleges, following the positive outcome of the government’s Business Blasters program for students in 11th and 12th grades in schools, it said.

The Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has approved the proposal to convene the Budget Session, and the file has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor, the statement said.

The Delhi government has been preparing the budget for the financial year 2024-25 for the past 20 days.

The first high-level meeting regarding the budget was chaired by Arvind Kejriwal on January 6.

During this meeting, the CM discussed the priorities for the upcoming budget with all ministers. Each minister was directed to determine their respective priorities.

Kejriwal explicitly stated that the budget should align with the concerns of the common man, bringing more happiness to their lives, it said.

During the budget preparation, the Delhi government has considered suggestions from all stakeholders, incorporating good suggestions into the budget.

In the previous financial year, the Delhi government presented a substantial budget of 78,800 crores, centred around the theme of “Clean, Beautiful, and Modern Delhi.”
