Chief Electoral Office declares paid holiday in Delhi for voting on May 25

New Delhi, (UNI) The Chief Electoral Office of Delhi on Sunday announced a paid holiday in the national capital on the voting day for Lok Sabha elections on May 25.

In an order issued today, the CEO Delhi said, “All eligible employees, be it public or private, who are voters in the NCT of Delhi are entitled to a paid holiday to exercise their democratic right to vote on the polling day.”

“Voters of neighbouring cities Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan working in Delhi will also be given a paid holiday,”it said.

The electoral administration further directed the employers of concerned public, private or any other establishments to comply with this order and ensure that employees have the opportunity to participate in the democratic process without any hindrance.

“This initiative underscores the importance of voter turnout and the fundamental role of every citizen in the bolstering the electoral process,” the order read.

By granting a paid holiday, the CEO of Delhi under the guidance of ECI aims to facilitate unhindered participation and spreading voter awareness among the residents of Delhi, it added.
