Kolhapur, Sep 3 (UNI) Alleging that the central and state governments were “unsuccessful” in solving people’s problems including rising inflation, and high GST on essential commodities, Congress leader in the Maharashtra Legislative Council Satej Patil on Sunday said the masses were expressing their discontent against the present Shinde-Phadnvis-Pawar government.
Led by Patil, Kolhapur district Congress during the day began a “Jansavand Yatra” (conversation with peoples), to give “relief” to the masses “distressed” by the “aimless” policies of the central as well as state governments.
The yatra has been taken out as a part of the state-level movement announced by Congress’ Maharashtra unit president Nana Patole.
It began from Tandulwadi village in Chandgad tehsil of the district at 7 AM, with hundreds of Congress workers and supporters, especially women participating enthusiastically..
While addressing the people, Patil – also the district Congress chief – said his party has decided to take out “Jansavand Yatra” all over the state to uphold the progressive thoughts of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and to “put down” the “conspiracy” of to split the people based on caste and religion.
The ‘Jansavand Yatra’ will pass through Bagilge, Rampur, Managing, Shivnge, Mhakewadi, Ghulewadi Nittur, Kivad and other villages covering more than 25 kms on the first day of the programme. The day’s march will end with a public rally near the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ajara in the evening. The yatra will continue till September 12.
