Kolkata, Apr 22 (UNI) Calcutta High Court on Monday cancelled the entire teachers’ appointments (over 25,000) in 2016 for the West Bengal Government-sponsored and aided schools across the state, court sources said.

A Division Bench, headed by Justices Debangshu Basak and Md Shabbar Rashidi, while declaring all the appointments in 2016 null and void, directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the depth to unravel all the appointment methods and processes and submit a report before this court in another three months.

The CBI also arrested former education minister Partha Chatterjee and a dozen senior officials in the state education department.
