- Matching sibling donor stem cell transplant successfully performed at AIIMS

A 54-year-old male patient successfully underwent matching sibling donor stem cell transplant at AIIMS Bhopal. He was suffering from severe blood cancer, the treatment of which is almost impossible in the absence of a stem cell transplant.
A resident of Bhopal learned about his illness in another hospital in July 2023. Later he came to AIIMS Bhopal for treatment. Initially he was given chemotherapy, after which his disease was cured. Later, a stem cell transplant was planned for his complete treatment. The need for the procedure, complications and duration were explained in detail to the patient and his family. After his consent he was admitted in the month of December.
