New Delhi, (UNI) Launching a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent its fourth summons to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case, the party accused BJP of misusing ED to stop Kejriwal from campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a press conference, senior party leader Gopal Rai said that , “The ED has sent summons to Kejriwal to appear before it on January 18 after the party, on Friday, announced the program of the Chief Minister who will be on a three-day visit to Goa from January 18 for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.”
This is not a coincidence, he said, adding, “ED should avoid becoming a frontal organization of BJP. Also, BJP should avoid politically misusing ED.”
BJP has sent this fourth summons through ED to stop Arvind Kejriwal from preparing and campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. It does not in any way want any opposition leader to campaign in the Lok Sabha election, Rai alleged.
Therefore, it has made ED its tool to stop opposition leaders from campaigning, the Environment Minister further alleged.
“ED remained silent for so many days, but when the program of Arvind Kejriwal’s Goa visit was announced in the media yesterday, ED sent a notice today to clash with his program,” he said.
“ED is a constitutional institution. The notice of the constitutional body is leaked to the media before it reaches the Chief Minister. The ED notice has not reached the Chief Minister and we got the news of the notice being sent from the media that the fourth notice of ED has been issued.
This work of leaking the notice to the media is not the work of constitutional institution, but the handiwork of BJP,” he alleged.
