New Delhi, April 23 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday named senior leader Tashi Gyalson as its candidate for the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat.
BJP has dropped sitting MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
The BJP’s decision to drop Namgyal comes amid resentment towards the ruling party among a section of Buddhists in Leh over the number of issues including the latest protest held by Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Gyalson’s candidature was announced by BJP’s Chief Election Committee today as the party announced the 14th list of candidates for Lok Sabha polls.
He is the Chairman-cum-chief executive councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in Leh.
Ladakh Parliamentary seat will go to polls on May 20.
