Bhopal’s BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) has started to be removed from Saturday night. The work of removing BRTS started at 11:30 pm. PWD started the removal of the BRTS corridor between Lalghati and Bairagarh. The railing is being removed from here. One to one and a half meter area has been covered for safety.

PWD officials say that as per the orders of the Chief Minister, the work of demolishing the BRTS corridor has been started at night. There is less traffic during this period. It started from Halalpur. After watching the presentation on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had given instructions to the district administration to remove BRTS.

After this it was said to start from Bairagarh (Sant Hirdaram Nagar). There is more traffic on both sides of BRTS during the day, hence there are instructions to remove it when the traffic reduces at night. This is the reason that the work of removing BRTS was started from Saturday night. A total of Rs 18.51 crore will be spent on dismantling the BRTS between Misrod to AMPRI, Roshanpura to Kamla Park and Collectorate to Lalghati.

Collector held a meeting, asked for a plan

Before removing the BRTS, Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh had also held a meeting on Thursday regarding the process to be followed for removing the corridor and discussed with Municipal Corporation Commissioner Noble Frank A and the vendors involved in this work. He had said that while removing BRTS, work should be done with safety on the road. One stretch at a time will be removed.
