Krishnanagar, May 2 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying “Modi Ki Guarantees are a bundle of lies,” and accused the Centre of “discriminating” against the state by withholding funds for millions of workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act.
Addressing an election rally in favour of Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat candidate Mahua Moitra, the TMC Chairperson alleged that the BJP was trying to marginalise the OBC, SC, ST and Dalits in the country.
She also alleged the CAA, NRC are meant for driving out those who would apply for it and dared the BJP to implement those including the Uniform Civil Code.
” We are not going to allow those to happen in Bengal, ” Banerjee said.
She called upon the people to vote for the TMC and help the party to form the next government with the INDI Alliance.
” We need to have a change of guard at the Centre and defeat the BJP, ” the TMC supremo said.
She urged the people not to vote even for the Congress and the Left parties in the Lok Sabha poll.
Banerjee said Bengal grew under the rule of Trinamool Congress and the Central government has neglected the state.
Addressing a public meeting at Tehatta in Nadia district she reiterated that she will not allow CAA and NRC to happen in West Bengal.
She claimed that the common people of the state including women have been given benefits under various developmental schemes by the ruling party of the state. She said no one will be safe under BJP rule and this time BJP will not be in power in New Delhi.
She called upon the people to resist BJP and choose a different government at the Centre.
Earlier, the TMC supremo described the BJP leaders from outside the state, including that Delhi, visiting the state for electioneering as migratory birds.
” Bengal and BJP are (is) not a good match as their wavelength is completely different from ours,” Banerjee, who is the face of TMC since its inception in 2000,said on X.
” While we uphold our culture & tradition, the migratory birds from Delhi do nothing but spread lies In (on) Bengal,” she said.
” This election ( 2024 Lok Sabha) is about deciding their fate & punishing them for their conspiracies. Bengal will show the path to the country, ” Banerjee concluded.
