New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday urged the Election Commission and DCP (South East) to increase 24×7 paramilitary forces deployment in Kalkaji Assembly constituency to ensure free and fair Assembly election.

In a letter addressed to the Returning Officer of the Kalkaji assembly constituency, Atishi highlighted the large-scale distribution of money and liquor, terming it a “blatant violation” of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) inside JJ clusters of the Kalkaji Assembly constituency.

Attaching medical reports of the harmed, Atishi pointed out that these illegal activities are being accompanied by instances of violence, creating an atmosphere of fear among voters.

Calling for immediate action, CM Atishi demanded an increased 24×7 paramilitary forces presence in these areas to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

She also requested enhanced patrolling in the affected zones to ensure that voters can cast their ballots without intimidation.

“This is to bring to your kind notice the blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency. I have come to know that money and liquor are being distributed in large quantities inside camp areas, especially Nehru Camp, Navjeevan Camp, Transit Camp A & B, and Pocket A 14, Kalkaji,” she wrote.

Detailing the incidents, the Delhi Chief Minister stated, “This distribution of money and liquor has been accompanied by instances of violence.”

She cited a specific case from January 27, saying, “At around 11:30 p.m., Rohit, a resident of Nehru Camp, was picked up by known anti-social elements of the area. He was threatened with dire consequences and beaten up by the attackers, who were carrying guns and axes. A complaint has been filed in this regard. Later, these individuals were also seen roaming around with area Delhi Police Constable Jai Bhagwan. The MLC report of the incident is enclosed.”

Describing another incident, she wrote, “On the morning of January 28, a resident of Navjeevan Camp, Abhishek, and his aunt were brutally attacked with iron rods. Abhishek was taken to a room in Hanuman Park, where the aforementioned anti-social elements had set up a base, and was mercilessly beaten.”

“In light of these incidents, there is an urgent need to increase paramilitary forces presence in the affected slum clusters of the Kalkaji Assembly constituency to ensure that voters can cast their ballots without fear in the upcoming election,” Atishi emphasized.
