New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) An environmental activist, Kirti Vardhan Singh is also known for his passion for flying,Hailing from a Taludadar family of Mankapur in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district, the 58-year-old took the plunge into electoral politics in 1998 when he contested the Lok Sabha election from Gonda seat as Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate.
In 2014 he resigned from SP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the Lok Sabha polls from the same seat successfully.Two years later he won a case related to illegal mining in his constituency against the UP government.
Having won the election for three consecutive terms, he is a new face in the Modi 3.0 as the Union Minister of State.
