Akhilesh demands a probe into Mukhtar’s death under the supervision of SC judge

Ghazipur (UP), Apr 7 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday demanded that the death of mafia-turned-politician and former MLA Mukhtar Ansari be probed under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Akhilesh termed Mukhtar’s death as unnatural calling it a murder and conspiracy. Stating that he has no confidence in any judicial investigation team constituted by the state government demanded that the death of Mukhtar Ansari be probed under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Akhilesh made the demand while visiting the ancestral house of Mukhtar Ansari where he met the family members and expressed his condolences.

Akhilesh reached the Shaheed Inter College in Yusufpur Mohammadabad by helicopter from where he reached Mukhtar Ansari’s house by road. During his visit, the SP Chief met all the family members including deceased Mukhtar’s elder brother MP Afzal Ansari, son Omar Ansari, and expressed his condolences.

Mukhtar Ansari’s nephew and SP MLA Shoaib Ansari ‘Mannu’ was present on the occasion.

Later, while talking to the media, Akhilesh termed the death of Mukhtar Ansari as unfortunate and murder. Attacking the government, he said that maximum discrimination and injustice are taking place in this government.

He said that providing security to the citizens is the first job of the government. “A government which cannot provide justice can never be of the people,” he said.

While describing the media as the fourth pillar of democracy, the SP Chief said that this pillar is also in danger today. “Journalists are being put in jail for reporting facts. Along with this, action is taken against journalists by raising old cases by any means,” he said.

He said that he is with the Ansari family in this hour of grief and has come to share their grief. Expressing disbelief about the investigation team constituted by the government, he said that there is no expectation of justice from this government.

Akhilesh said, “Everyone knows the truth of the entire incident, even the government itself knows it. But it would not like to let the truth come out. In such a situation, everything will be clear only after investigation under the supervision of the sitting judge of the Supreme Court.”

It may be noted that Mukhtar, who was lodged in Banda jail, was taken to the medical college on March 28 where he died due to cardiac arrest. A judicial probe along with a magisterial inquiry has already been ordered into the incident.
