Actor-politician Gautami quits BJP, Annamalai says party on her side

Chennai, Oct 23 (UNI) Popular-actor-politician Gautami Tadimalla on Monday quit the BJP, citing ‘lack of support’ from the party, ending her 25 year long association with the saffron party.

She resigned from the BJP alleging that a section of the party was actively supporting one C.Alagappan, who has betrayed her trust and cheated her of her life earnings.

In a post on X, Ms Gautami said “A journey of 25 yrs comes to a conclusion today. My resignation letter. @JPNadda @annamalai_k @BJP4India @BJP4TamilNadu”.

Reacting to her resignation citing “lack of support”, BJP Tamil Nadu unit Chief K Annamalai said there seems to be some misunderstanding and no body in the party was supporting or protecting the person, who had cheated her, while assuring that the party was on her side.

Mr Annamalai said he had a telephonic conversation with her and said the party is on her side. Gautami had demanded fast action and that he had helped her to get the FIR registered against the concerned person, who she alleged had cheated her.

“I spoke to Gautami Tadimalla on the phone and she demanded a very fast action because all her hard-earned money was allegedly cheated by a person. We had helped her to meet the police and supported her to get the FIR registered, but now she feels that some BJP workers are trying to protect the accused”, he said.

“Nobody is trying to protect him, I had a chat with Gautami today also there is a misunderstanding is what I believe.”

“Police have to look into it and take action. Nobody in the BJP is trying to protect the accused and he is not connected with the BJP. The accused was with Gautami for 25 years as a friend, and he has cheated, it is a case between Gautami and him, we are on the side of Gautami here”, the BJP State Chief said.
