AAP lodges complaint with EC against BJP for poll code violation

New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday lodged a complaint with Election Commission of India against Bharatiya Janata Party for alleged violation of the Electoral laws, Representation of Peoples Act, 1951 and Model Code of Conduct.

As per complaint to EC, AAP accused BJP of posting many “frivolous” posts on the basis of morphed images and videos on their official social media platforms with an intention to ruin the “clean” and “undisputed” image of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is also the star campaigner for the party in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram where elections are ongoing.

In the complaint, AAP claimed that BJP has time and again “morphed” the images of Kejriwal and other AAP members and have portrayed them in a poor light to create confusion and hatred among the people.

Criticising the BJP, AAP mentioned in the complaint that the saffron party misuse the social media. “The misuse of social media is evident. Misleading videos along with visuals has been posted with sole objective of tarnishing the clean and spotless image of CM Arvind Kejriwal,” the complaint letter read.

On Wednesday, AAP Leader and MP Raghav Chadha accused BJP of running a campaign on social media to “malign” Kejriwal’s image. On November 5, the BJP posted objectionable content on social media platforms to tarnish Kejriwal’s image.

The AAP also posted content in response to the content shared by the BJP on social media. However the AAP received a notice from the Election Commission regarding this, but the BJP did not, Chadha claimed.
